Why Focus on Allergens?
Under UK law, food businesses are obliged to tell customers if certain allergens are contained in their food (there are currently 14 ‘listed’ allergens, see About Food Allergies & Food Intolerances ).
Up until now, people have used different ways of conveying this information. This made comparisons confusing for consumers and time-consuming for businesses.
Consumers need consistent, clear information about allergens contained in products sold from commercial food outlets.
Food producers and vendors need an easy, standardised way of presenting that information.
The Answer
Menu Wizard gives consumers a simple, intuitive way to search and sort food menus by allergen (e.g. finding dishes that don’t contain peanuts).
Food businesses are able to easily update food menus, fulfilling their legal obligations to display allergen information - using a standardised structure and format.
